Xtian Journalists Celebrate Makinde’s Guber Victory In Oyo
…urges gov to dedicate victory to people’s oriented projects
The Nigerian Association of Christian Journalists, NACJ, Oyo State Chapter, has celebrated the emergence of Governor Seyi Makinde on his electoral victory in the March 18, governorship election in the state.
A statement issued on behalf of the association’s acting chairman, Com. ‘Lekan Sobowale and signed by the acting Public Relations Officer, PRO, Com. Adeola Badru, saluted residents of the state for a peaceful election and called for “harmony between Christians and Muslims in their quest for a prosperous Oyo State.”
NACJ, noted that the victory of the governor in the election, was achieved owing to his unprecedented achievements in the state in the last four years of his tenure.
Congratulating the governor, the association prayed for a prosperous future for Oyo State, while also praised other contenders for exhibiting good sportsmanship in conceding defeat to Governor Makinde.
“Despite the enormous tension and apprehension that preceded the election, residents of the state have demonstrated political maturity that elections can be won and lost without recourse to violence or acrimony,” NACJ said.
Still congratulating Governor Makinde for his victory, at the election, the association wished him a successful tenure in office, while also commending his democratic character.
“The sterling Christian and democratic qualities aptly demonstrated by Governor ‘Seyi Makinde are in line with our objectives that democracy must thrive and be firmly rooted in Nigeria.”
“The fruit of democracy is a peaceful, just, fair, and equitable society. These are the pillars upon which we can build a prosperous nation. We shall continue to work to entrench these values in our nation,” the association stated.
NACJ, however, encouraged all politicians in the country to play politics according to the admonition that: “nobody’s ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian.”
