UPDATE: Furniture, Electronics Worth Millions Of Naira Destroyed As Fire Razes Art Deco In Osogbo

Art Deco Building, a store dealings in sales of furniture material, interiors and electronics building situated at Alekuwo, Osogbo , Osun State was completely razed by fire outbreak.
Furniture including mattress, interiors and electronics worth millions of naira were razed by the fire incident.
According to an eyewitness the fire started from the three story building at the wee hours of Thursday and then spread to Art deco building and burnt till 8am.
Chief Superintendent of Corps, NSCDC, Abioye Toyin told journalists that the fire outbreaks started around 2am in the morning.
He confirmed there is no loss of life apart from the properties that were destroyed.
“I got a call from headquarters that there is fire outbreak around 2AM.
“Immediately, I call some of my men, we rushed down to this place. On getting here, we have men of Federal Fire Service and Osun State Fire Service on ground to put out the fire. We supported them to ensure that the fire does not go out of control.
“Although it was a serious fire but there was no casualty. Quantifying the loss will run to hundreds of millions.
Findings so far revealed that there was electricity spark which the little fire from it landed on foam and from their it engulfed the two building.
Another witness, a resident at the vicinity who did not want his name on print said they heard a sound at midnight and thought it was a thief and latter come outside around 2 am when the same sound was heard.
He said” we heard a sound around 2am in the morning, and we thought it was a thief later we heard another sound and then decides to peep through the window. it was around 2am we realised it was the electric wire from the building that sparks and cause the fire outbreak and then rush out.
He said the federal fire service came as early as 3 am to put off the fire before the state fire service joined them.
Eyewitness said three workers of Art deco who slept in the building came out unhurt including an old woman from three story building.
