Some members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) factional Group in Osun state Wednesday staged a peaceful trotest to demand the removal of the Commissioner of Police, Mr Wale Olokode, for being bias.

CityMirrorNews reports that the protesters carried placards with different inscription like; CP Stop Being Oyetola Stooge”, “Freedom of Association Is Not A Crime, “Osun Police Stop Being Biased”, “IGP call Osun Police to order”.

“Egalitarian Society Is Our Demand”, “Police Be Just To All”, “CP Olokode Stop Playing Gboyega Oyetola’s Script”, Olokode Stop Harassing APC Members Loyal To Us”, among others.

The members of the APC factional group are the core loyalists of the former Governor of the state and current Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

CityMirrorNews further reports that the protesters marched to the Police Command in Osun in buses and motorcylces with placards to press home their demands.

The APC Factional Chairman, Honourable Rasak Saninsile while addressing newsmen at the Police Command in Osogbo, Osun State Capital said the purpose of their demand was based on the decisions taken by the CP on political issues, accusing the CP of being biased.

Saninsile, said that the Command’s position on the attack of the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, by who he described as Political thugs allegedly being used by Ilerioluwa Group, was absurd and unbelievable.

“As bonafide citizens of Nigeria and Osun indigenes, we put on record that the CP is incapable of living up to his core duty as protector of lives and property of all citizens.

“It is sad that his command has taken its bias tendencies to the highest level of calling the Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria some absurd names.

“It is heart wrenching that the Command has caved in totally to lucre-based influence and shown unbridled loyalty by the content of your press release.

“It is also a sad tale that the Command, without any of its men in the Minister’s motorcade, concluded that the Minister brought in hoodlums to disturb the peace of the state,’’ he said.

Saninsile said “there are so many cases of unresolved kidnapping, murder especially that of OAU MBA student,Timothy Adegoke, that has to be taken out of the command due to compromise.

In his response, the Police Deputy Commissioner in Osun, Mr Valentine Kanayo, told the protesters that the allegation tendered was baseless but promised that their demands would be looked into.

Kanayo, therefore, appealed to protesters to go about their normal business and urged them not to take laws into their hands, adding that justice will take its course.

He however, sounded note of warning to politicians who might want to foment trouble before, during and after the Saturday primary Election saying that the command would not condone any act capable of plugging the state into crisis.
