Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has reiterated that there is no way his state could severe Osun state from joint ownership of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH).
“Except Osun state said it is no longer interested, the University belongs to the two states,Ajimobi declared in Ibadan on Thursday during an interractive session on education with stake holders in the state.
Ajimobi assured that the University would be reopened before the end of this month adding that the management of the School should seek how they would generate revenue internally.
The Governor added that everything would be done to restore normalcy to the citadel of learning.
He denied insinuation in some quarters that the Government was contemplating selling out schools to private individuals.
Answering question, Ajimobi agreed that in service training should be reintroduced to schools in order to improve the quality of teachers in schools but quickly added that teachers might also be examined after such trainings..
Ajimobi reminded parents of the need to take keen interest in the education of their children and wards adding that their responsibilities should not be totally transferred to the government.
Some of the stake holders who spoke during the towns meeting disclosed what they have done as alumni to arrest infrastructural decay in their old schools like Okebadan High School, and Our Lady Queen of Apostles Grammar school Ibadan among others adding that others should emulate such.
It would be recalled that some indigenes of Oyo including few monarchs have persistently been demanding that Osun state should be severed from joint ownership of the institution.
