Oyo/Osun Customs Breaks Even, Makes N20,051,805,179 Jan-April

The Oyo/Osun Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has collected a sum of N20,051,805,179 between January and April this year as a total duty with an assurance to improve on its performance.
This was contained in a press statement by the Customs Area Controller for the Command, Hellen Uche Ngozi and made available to news men in Ibadan, the state capital.
She said that “other seizures include 180 kegs of 25 litres of petrol,3,465 bags of 50KG per boiled rice with duty value of N82,426,44 gallons of 4 litre each of vegetable oil with DPV of 278,805 unit of used tyres with DPV of N162,938 putting the total seizure at N96,612,665.
The CAC disclosed that during their anti smuggling activities of March and April this year,the command made a seizure of 310 drums of 100 litres each and 180 kegs of 25 litres each of premium motor spirit called petrol.
The Officer hinted that the seized petrol would be auctioned and the proceeds would be remitted accordingly.
She added that the officers in the command were able to identify a petrol station carrying illegal activities within its premises and the station has been sealed up.
” We carried out our enforcement and anti smuggling activities with utmost professionalism,caution and intelligence, she said.
Uche Ngozi urged members of the public in the two states to “” cooperate with the Nigeria Customs Service in the implementation of the government fiscal policies to help the economy and social welfare of the nation”.
“Despite this pandemic period,we worked tirelessly as a service to ensure that our borders are secured and smuggling activities are reduced to the barest minimum. We combed bushes day and night to ensure that government fiscal policy is forced and local production is encouraged to increase Gross Domestic Product(GDP) and economic development.,She said.
The CAC commended The traditional rulers,community leaders,and stakeholders in the two States for their cooperation in all ways pleading that the collaboration should continue.
