Essential Service Workers Stranded In Osun, As Lockdown Takes Effect
Workers for essential service were not galvanized from the total lockdown, as many were stranded at motor parks, especially health workers.
Speaking with CityMirrorNews, Mrs. Modupe Afolabi, who works with State Hospital Asubiaro, commended the effort of the government for its decision to lockdown the state movement for 14 days which start today, with a view to curbing the spreading of the virus in the state.
She therefore urged the state government to provide buses for the movement of workers that will be on duty during this period.
Investigation revealed that some motorcylists were working with high charges, which some of the workers could not afford.
A bike operator (name withheld) said he operates within his area in case any security operative is on patrol.
At the Owode Ede, there is high level of compliance, only security agents were seen barricaded the roads and prevented trucks from gaining access to the state capital of Osun, Osogbo.
Speaking, the Chairman, Ede North Local Council Development Area, Hon Mukaila Uthman expressed satisfaction over the level of compliance by the people of the local government.
Uthman commended governor Gboyega Oyetola for putting proactive measures in place so as to be able to curb the spread of deadly Coronavirus pandemic.
He commended the residents of the council for complying with the stay at home order, urging them to always maintain high level of personal hygiene.
