By Nafisat Arogundade
A chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun, Prince Saka Oyedeji, popularly called Mabro on Tuesday defected to Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, few days to the general elections, slated for February 16 and March 2, 2019.
Oyedeji defected to PDP alongside other candidates of House of Assembly on the platforms of Social Democratic Party, SDP, Action Democratic Congress, ADC, and People’s Redemption Party, PRP, in Osun Central Senatorial District.
The former APC chieftain and others officially announced their defection at the Senatorial District rally of the PDP held in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
Oyedeji, while speaking at the rally hinted that the PDP has what it takes to win the presidential election and other elective offices across the state, going by the quality of personalities presented by the party.
He therefore urged the people of the senatorial district to stand for their rights and vote the PDP saying “the APC has failed to utilise the common wealth of the nation to better the lives of the people, adding that the party deserved to be voted out”.
The Chairman of PDP in Osun, Hon. Soji Adagunodo in his address opined that PDP remained a party to beat, having signed a pact with the people to evolve a workable blueprint to bail them out of poverty and misery.
He pledged that the party would revive the country’s economy and restore dignity of the people with high standards of living.
Adagunodo asserted that the victory enjoyed by APC in the just concluded gubernatorial election was ephemeral, adding that the party would retrieve its mandate through Tribunal.
Some of the party leaders who present at the rally include : Alhaji Fatal Diekola, Kunle Alao, Muyiwa Oladimeji, Former Deputy chairman of PDP in the south west, Alhaji Tajundeen Oladipo, Senator Olu Alabi, among others.
