Court Orders Remand of Ondo Monarch For Contempt

An Ondo State High Court sitting in Oka-Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government Area of the state has ordered the remand of Olusupare of Supare-Akoko, Oba Adejoro Adedeji for contempt of court.

Oba Adedeji had been dragged before the court over a chieftaincy stool of the Olokeogboran but failed to appear before the court when the case was mentioned.

The court presided over by Justice D.I Kolawole had earlier in his ruling on 12th July, 2017 ordered Oba Adedeji to install one Chief Emmanuel Adekunle Alabi as the Olokeogboran after his selection by the quarter’s screening committee.

The monarch, however failed to obey the order of the Court.

Before the ruling, Counsel to Oba Adedeji, Mallam Ashiru Ganiyu stood up to address the court and to argue the matter before he was overruled by the presiding judge.

But counsel to Olokeogboran, Mr. Tunji Osho however prayed the court to commit the monarch to prison for disobeying court order.

While delivering his ruling, Justice Kolawole thereafter ordered Oba Adedeji to be remanded in prison custody for fourteen (14) days for contempt of court.

Justice Kolawole also ordered the State Commissioner of Police in the State, Gbenga Adeyanju to immediately arrest the monarch and handed him over to the State Prison officials having been convicted.
