Killings: Osun Guber Aspirant, Lawal Condoles With Govt, People Of Plateau
.... Urges Military To Engage Its Personnel Effectively On Intelligence Gathering
A governorship aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Engineer Ayoade Afolabi Lawal has condoled with the government and people of Plateau state on the killings of innocent people by the suspected Fulani herdsmen.
Lawal also admonished the security operatives in the country to actively engage its personnel on intelligence gathering in stemming the spate of killings and crisis.
Engineer Lawal speaking with newsmen in Osogbo, Osun State Capital on the recent killings in Plateau State and other places in the country urged the leadership of the security personnel and government to carry out proper investigation and proper prosecution to solve the menace.
He explained that the nation’s armed forces seem to be weakening and that the old glory of bravery of the country’s security personnel must be brought back and sustained.
According to him, “The incessant killings and destruction of property is becoming embarrassing to the people and government of Nigeria and unfortunate. Killing of innocent people is not something that should be tolerated in any form in any country because it creates sorrow and grief for those of us that are still alive. I want to believe that there is something wrong with the fundamental relationship with people in that region and it is something that government has to take appropriate stern approach in solving the problem because this thing may end up consuming the whole country.
“The military and the police must be actively engaged with intelligence agencies to put a stop to this dastardly acts of some evil people around us because it is not animals that are killing people, it is people that are killing people. Who are these people that are killing people? Proper investigation and proper prosecution must be executed to solve this menace.
He however congratulated the new Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomole on the successful national convention that brought him to office saying his emergence will forge the party ahead to deliver dividends of democracy to the people and become victorious in 2019 general elections.
Engineer Lawal then called on the new leadership of APC to ensure that the best candidate emerged as the party’s choice in the governorship primary to be conducted on July 7th in Osun State and all conditions and issues relating to the governorship election both in Osun and Ekiti State are properly addressed and handled.
He said the APC convention is relatively peaceful and I believe those that have emerged especially Adams Oshiomole as the Chairman is for the betterment of the party. Oshiomole is a bold and courageous leader, he is someone that doesn’t mince word about things, he always goes straight to the point and I believe he has a great capacity to forge the party ahead.
“I have always seen Adams Oshiomole right from the NLC days as someone who portend to have a fair nature and I believe that with his emergence, governorship election of Osun state will become a free and fair election where the best would emerge and all conditions that are on grounds and all issues relating to the governorship election would be properly addressed and handled.
Even though, Oshiomole had emerged, there would still be little infleunce from the old executive but I know that the new executive would want to fair because winning the election should be a paramount thing to the party.
Engineer Lawal then called on all party members across the country to give necessary support to the new executive and unite the party so that dividends of democracy could be delivered at the door steps of Nigerians.
