Strike: Be More Patient With Aregbesola, Osun Monarch Appeals To Workers
A prominent monarch in Osun state, Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Hammed Adekunle Oyelude has appealed to workers in the state to reconsider their stance on embarking on industrial action, urging them (workers) to bear more with the state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on the issue of their welfare.
Oba Oyelude who sympathised with the workers on the ‘inconsistencies’ faced with their welfare due to the economic recession currently facing the country, however, said industrial action would cause further degradation to the economy of the state, as such, should be reversed.
A statement by the monarch’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Olayemi Alabi, noted that Oba Oyelude made the passionate appeal to workers in the state while speaking at the public presentation of the revised edition of a book titled THE MAKING OF ILEOGBO” held in the Town Hall of the ancient Town.
The monarch said the appeal to workers became necessary in order to forestall further slide to economic activities in the state– a situation he pointed out has already been caused by the general downturn in the oil stream sector as a result of the country’s over dependency and being only source of Gross Domestic Product in Nigeria.
“There is no doubt that, this is a double hard times for the both Government and its Governed as a result of General Bad Economy across the States,” Oba Oyelude noted.
“The fact points towards one direction that Nigeria has far too long depended on Oil for its living without considering its adverse effect,” he stressed.
The Olowu observed that since oil has failed as a means of survival, he suggested that the situation demanded austerity measures by engaging in diversifying economies through multiple approach systems, noting that the present administration in the state is currently embarking upon so as to bring back the state to her abundant financial footing.
He therefore implored workers in the state to be more patient with the present Administration led by Governor Rauf Aregbesola till March as it has promised for he would eventually keep his promises and Statutory Obligations as dictated by the Constitution and accordance with International Labour Laws.
He maintained that “I strongly believed in the Government that it would deliver on its promises because it is obligatory and duty bound to its Workers in accordance with the Law of the Land, even International Labour Laws that recognise Dignity of Labour.”
Commenting on the book launch, Oba Oyelude lauded the creative ingenuity of the author, commending the zeal and passion of Mr. Alli Ibrahim for not to have allowed environmental factor to debarred his morale in doing what is worth doing.
While admonishing Nigerian youths to borrow a leaf from Mr. Alli’s good attitudinal tree, expressing optimism that doing so would mean a better tomorrow for the country.
Earlier in his remark, the Chairman of the occasion, the Aare On a Kakanfo-designate of Yoruba land, Otunba Gani Adams, represented by Mr. Akin Adebisi who equally doubled as a Book Presenter lauded creative skills displayed in the work of art by the book author, describing it as an act of writing history on the marble of life.
In there separate remarks, the Royal Father of the day, oluwo of Iwo His Imperial Majesty Oba.Abdulrosheed Adewale and the Royal Host, Olu of Ileogbo Oba.Adetoyese Abeeb described the Book ” THE MAKING OF ILEOGBO KINGDOM” as a true-rich writing that engendered facts and figures of Ileogbo which a must read for all Sons and Daughters of the Town.
They added that it was not surprising such an exponential blackbuster came through a hidden Treasure like Alli Ibrahim, they also enjoined him to continue to do more.
