It is not simply a question of “our turn”; rather it is a push for a leader of Iwoland extraction who will rule equitably and justly,who will represent the whole of Osun,who will govern from the prism of pan-Osun vision of holistic and sustainable development.

It is a quest for this old senatorial headqurters to have her son in the governorship seat from 2018 to 2026.That quest for democratic occupation of Abere is not to parochially serve only the interest of Iwoland but to meet the basic needs and aspirations of the nine federal constituencies in the state. Iwolokan is not a sectional project;it is not an under-rating and under- estimation of other districts and zones.

Before any misinterpretation,Iwolokan symbolises the aspiration of a people to serve as instrument of restoration,amelioration and enhancement of all round development of Osun state.That term does not implies that others are not qualified to implement such restoration agenda .The import simply is an appeal for communal undertanding from the other eight federal constituencies to concede to an Iwoland indegene to occupy the governorship.

Fulfilling that goal is understandably a demanding assignment. The constitutional right of other zones must be frequently acknowledged. No one is attempting to deny that others have equal rights to seek the exalted seat. What is on the table is a consensual submission, appealing to the best intent and great good heart of other zones to be their brother’s keeper.

Who are we in Iwo zone to deny others of their inalienable rights ? Iwo people unquestionably accept that this is a democracy.No zone is legally barred ;what we seek is political concession.

If granted ,it wont be abused.

Iwolokan will protect the rights and privileges of all towns and zones of Osun state .No zone will be denied their rights to good governance and people-oriented state leadership. Iwolokan will not be unfair in appointments and distribution of social amenities .

Under Iwolokan ,the Osogbo Iwo road will secure equally urgent attention alongside Osogbo Ilesa road. Pipe borne water accesibility will cover not just Igbomina areas but Ife-Ijesa axis and Greater Iwoland and others. Federal appointments will be subjected to fairness and spread and all indegenes will have a true sense of belonging.

Iwolokan is not an exclusionary project.Its passively militant nature is simply the manifestation of the depth of passion of Iwoland to justly and responsibly serve the state.

The term is a passionate seeking of opportunity to be an instrument of revival and sustainable governance of Osun state . It is a genuine submission of self as an agent of hope and prosperity for all Osun people.

If we simply overlook “Iwo” in the “Iwolokan”,we have a perfect “Osunlokan” with an Iwo indegene on the driver state,dispensing not just good governance but truly people-oriented governance and state leadership for all Osun people.

Put the other way,we (all Osun indegenes) are Iwolokan as that term stands for equitable and just leadership,collective prosperity and a poverty free Osun state.
