The Obokun Chapter of the Nigerian Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) has endorsed the Accord Party candidate for the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, Pelumi Olajengbesi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The association announced its endorsement on Thursday, October 16, 2026, during a familiarisation meeting with the Pelumi Olajengbesi Campaign Organisation (POCO) in Ibokun, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State.

Speaking at the meeting, NATA Chairman, Obokun Chapter, Comrade Adebayo Adeyinka, according to a statement signed by the Spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi Campaign Organisation (POCO), Sodiq Lawal Chocomilo, and made available to journalists in Osogbo, on Friday, said the decision to support Olajengbesi was informed by what he described as the candidate’s record of supporting artisans, women and underprivileged youths.

Adeyinka said members of the association across Obokun had resolved to mobilise their members, families and customers to support Olajengbesi’s ambition to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives.

“We have listened to many politicians, but Pelumi Olajengbesi is different. He has shared his manifesto with us, and we need someone like him for the sake of our children and younger generations. He understands the challenges artisans face,” he said.

The NATA chairman, who said he could not count the number of artisans Olajengbesi had assisted, expressed confidence in the candidate’s ability to provide meaningful representation and improve the welfare of the people.

He added that Olajengbesi had promised to facilitate federal empowerment programmes, provide tools and support training opportunities for automobile technicians and other artisans if elected.

“He has promised to facilitate federal empowerment programmes, tools support and training for automobile technicians and other artisans. We believe him. That is why NATA, Obokun Chapter, is fully endorsing him,” Adeyinka said.

Responding, Olajengbesi thanked the association for the endorsement, describing artisans as important contributors to the local economy and the development of practical skills among young people.

He said automobile technicians and other informal-sector workers would remain important stakeholders in his development agenda, assuring them that his proposed representation would prioritise their welfare and economic advancement.

“I am humbled by this endorsement. NATA members are hardworking Nigerians who sustain families and train our young people. You fix our vehicles, you build skills, and you keep the economy moving,” he said.

Olajengbesi added that his manifesto contained plans to empower artisans through skills acquisition programmes, modern tools and financial support for their businesses.

“Our manifesto has clear plans for artisan empowerment. We will attract federal skills acquisition centres, modern tools grants and low-interest support for workshops across Oriade and Obokun. No artisan will be left behind,” he assured.

He urged members of the association to sustain their mobilisation efforts and participate actively in the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement is expected to strengthen Olajengbesi’s engagement with artisans and other grassroots stakeholders as political activities gather momentum ahead of the elections.
