Oyebanji Sworn In for Second Term, Promises Better Governance
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, and his deputy, Monisade Afuye, have been sworn in for a second four-year term in office.
The inauguration ceremony took place on Friday at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Adekanye Ogunmoye, administered the oaths of allegiance and office to the governor and his deputy.
Their inauguration followed their victory in the June 20, 2026 governorship election, which secured another four-year mandate for the duo.
Speaking at the ceremony, Oyebanji pledged to build on the achievements of his first term and introduce policies aimed at improving the welfare and living standards of residents.
The event attracted prominent political leaders and government officials from across the country, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Shettima arrived in Ado-Ekiti on Friday ahead of the inauguration and was received at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Governor Oyebanji and other dignitaries.
Also in attendance were the governors of Kwara, Imo, Sokoto, Kebbi, Ondo and Jigawa states, alongside the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda.
The swearing-in ceremony formally marked the beginning of Oyebanji and Afuye’s second term, with expectations that the administration would consolidate its previous efforts and deliver further development to the people of Ekiti State.
