Delta Police Arrest Father Over Alleged Assault Of Two-Year-Old Daughter

The police in Delta State have arrested a man for allegedly assaulting his two-year-old daughter with a cable wire after she reportedly failed to greet him one morning.

The suspect was arrested on Thursday, August 27, 2026, in Okpanam community, Delta State, following an intervention by filmmaker and human rights activist, Stanley Ajemba, popularly known as Stanley Ontop.

The suspect, an indigene of Okija in Anambra State, was reportedly taken into custody after his wife raised an alarm over the alleged abuse of their daughter, identified as Blessing Obi.

According to the child’s mother, the incident occurred shortly after the family had observed their morning prayers.

She alleged that the father became angry and violent after the two-year-old failed to greet him.

The suspect was further accused of tying the toddler’s hands with a wire before allegedly using another wire to beat her.

The alleged assault reportedly left the child with injuries and visible scars on different parts of her body.

Following the mother’s outcry over the incident, Stanley Ontop reportedly intervened and contacted the appropriate law enforcement authorities to report the alleged child abuse.

His intervention subsequently led to the arrest and detention of the suspect by the police.

The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault continue.

The incident has renewed concerns over child abuse and domestic violence, with rights advocates stressing the need for stronger protection of children against all forms of physical and emotional abuse.

The suspect remains presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law.
