SSACO Challenges Adekanmbi to Substantiate Corruption Allegation Against Alli

…Says APC Governorship Candidate Committed To revitalising Oyo’s 33 LGAs

The Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation (SSACO) has dismissed allegations by Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi against the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, describing them as politically motivated claims aimed at tarnishing the senator’s reputation ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The organisation, in a statement issued on Saturday by its Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Bisi Oladele, accused Adekanmbi of distorting historical facts and making unsubstantiated allegations against Alli rather than engaging in issue-based discussions on the development of Oyo State.

It said the allegations, reportedly made during a radio interview, reflected what it described as opposition attempts to undermine Alli’s growing political profile ahead of the next governorship election.

The campaign organisation recalled that Alli, during his tenure as Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, maintained a record of prompt salary payments and attention to workers’ welfare, which it said earned him recognition from the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Oyo State.

According to SSACO, the financial challenges faced by local governments following the Federal Military Government’s January 1993 policy on staff promotions and salary increases were nationwide in scope, arising from inadequate funding to implement the policy.

It argued that the difficulties persisted beyond Alli’s tenure and were subsequently addressed through institutional measures, including the establishment of the National Primary Education Commission in 1997 and the introduction of first-line charges for teachers’ salaries by 1999.

The organisation challenged Adekanmbi to make public the report or documentary evidence backing his corruption allegation against Alli, warning that failure to substantiate the claim could attract legal action.

SSACO accused Adekanmbi and his political associates of using historical administrative challenges to mislead the electorate, insisting that such allegations would not diminish Alli’s political standing.

Turning its attention to the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, the campaign organisation accused the state government of weakening local government administration and limiting the capacity of councils to deliver effective governance at the grassroots.

It maintained that Alli, if elected governor in 2027, would revitalise the state’s 33 local government areas by strengthening their administrative and financial capacities and enabling them to respond more effectively to the needs of residents.

The organisation said the APC candidate’s proposed priorities included the reconstruction of feeder and access roads to ease the movement of people and goods, stimulate commercial activities and improve economic opportunities across the state.

SSACO expressed confidence that voters would support its candidate in the 2027 election, saying the campaign would focus on restoring effective grassroots governance and addressing the developmental needs of communities across Oyo State.

It urged Adekanmbi and other political actors to prioritise constructive engagement and issue-based campaigns rather than what it described as attempts to distort historical records for partisan advantage.
