By-election: PDP Chieftain Lauds Osun APC For Accepting Defeat, Predicts Similar In 2018
By Olu Babalola, Ibadan
A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Lawmaker at the National Assembly, Chief Albert Abiodun Adeogun has commended the leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state for accepting its defeat during the last by-election just as he praised the judiciary for the last judgment where it held that Alhaji Ahmed Makarfi was the authentic national chairman of PDP.
Hon Adeogun in a press statement personally signed and made available to CityMirrorNews in Ibadan on Tuesday, said that the APC deserved nothing except defeat in view of the way it has been governing the state in the last years pointing out that most workers and pensioners in the state have been impoverished with half salaries which were not even paid as at when due.
He pointed out that if the party had attempted to go to any tribunal, it would have been an exercise in futility adding most people including supporters of Governor Rauf Aregbesola in the state have never had it so bad.
“The APC has got a signal on what is expected in 2018 governorship election. My appeal to the innocent people of the state is to get themselves together and resist the temptation of being bribed during the forthcoming governorship election. To mistakenly vote APC in 2018 governorship election would be to sign their death warrant and another frustration in the next four years, ” he advised.
The governorship aspirant lauded the recent verdict of the Supreme Court which declared Ahmed Makarfi as the authentic national Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party adding that it could not have been otherwise in view of the fact that the judiciary is the last hope of commoners.
He was of the conviction that without the judiciary , a lot of injustices would have taken place in the country with impunity adding that such might have caused setbacks to lovers of democracy in the country.
The Lawmaker commended Alhaji Makarfi for his resilience and courage pointing out that the courage which he displayed in the process of waiting should be extended to states governorship election and the general election of 2019.
He called on the people of the state to field a candidate without any blemish and who would be unanimously voted for in the 2018 governorship election which, according to him “would flush out APC from the state and restore better life for the masses who had suffered a lot under the present administration.”
He appealed to the good people of Osun state to keep hopes alive stressing that tough times could not last but tough people would do adding that they should take their destiny in their hands.
The Lawmaker from Ife East constituency commended the people of Osun West who shinned their eyes adding that it would have been otherwise if they sat on the fence in view of the fact that APC wanted to win at all costs despite the fact that the party had frustrated many people in the state.
