Lagos Baptist Conferences to Celebrate Rev. Dr. Olusola Idowu as Nigerian Baptist Convention President

Baptists across Lagos State are set to gather on Thursday, 18 June 2026, at to celebrate the ministry, leadership, and kingdom contributions of Rev. Dr. Olusola Idowu ahead of his assumption of office as President of the on 1 August 2026, by the grace of God.
The celebration, which is expected to bring together ministers, church leaders, and members from across Lagos, is organised as an expression of thanksgiving to God for His faithfulness in the life and ministry of Rev. Dr. Idowu, as well as an opportunity to pray for divine guidance, wisdom, and strength as he prepares to take up the responsibility of leading the Nigerian Baptist Convention.
The programme will feature goodwill messages, prayers, songs, testimonies, and reflections on Rev. Dr. Idowu’s years of service, pastoral leadership, and contributions to Baptist work and kingdom advancement.
The event will commence at 11:00 a.m. and is expected to attract a large gathering of Baptists from the three Conferences in Lagos State, led by Rev. Dr. Matthew Awujoola, President of the Lagos East Baptist Conference; Rev. Dr. Victor Akerele, President of the Lagos Central Baptist Conference; and Rev. Dr. Samuel Oladiran, President of the Lagos West Baptist Conference.
Rev. Dr. Olusola Idowu, who is set to become the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, has served as the Pastor of for the past eleven years. His ministry journey in Lagos, alongside his wife, Pastor Mrs. Folasade Idowu, spans over two decades and has been characterised by impactful pastoral, theological, leadership, and social interventions that have touched lives in Lagos, Nigeria, and beyond.
The gathering provides an avenue for Lagos Baptists to honour a servant-leader whose ministry has continued to inspire growth, commitment, and service within the Baptist family and the wider Christian community.
As Baptists in Lagos celebrate God’s faithfulness in the life and calling of Rev. Dr. Idowu, the message of the gathering remains: “Go Well, God’s Servant!”
