The Mustapha Adebayo Muhydeen-led leadership of the Labour Party, has disassociated the party from the purported endorsement of of Governor Ademola Adeleke for second term in office.

In a statement signed by the Chairman, Labour Party, Osun State Chapter, Hon. Mustapha Adebayo Muhydeen and made available to journalists in Osogbo, on Friday, expressed concerns over the activities of some people he described as political hangers-on and rent-a-crowd politicians who mobilize only when there is “welfare”.

“The Labour Party in Osun State remains one indivisible body with no faction. His claim is baseless, and this impersonation violates the Constitution of the Labour Party.

Condemning what he termed as unauthorized endorsement, Muhydeen stated that the Labour Party, does not support, or associate with any gathering where such an endorsement programme took place.

“The Mustapha Adebayo Muhydeen-led leadership of the Labour Party, Osun State Chapter, has noted with concern a gathering by a group falsely claiming to be the leadership of the Labour Party in Osun State, purporting to endorse His Excellency, Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke, for a second term.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the individual who presented himself as “leader” at that event was once a candidate of our great party in the 2023 General Elections. Since then, he has not participated in any activities of the Labour Party in the state. We were equally surprised to see Prof. Tolulope Fakokunde lead a group to that endorsement event.

“We state categorically that the Labour Party, Osun State Chapter, does not endorse, support, or associate with that gathering in any form.

“We hereby dissociate ourselves completely from the said group and urge the public, the media, and all stakeholders to disregard them. That gathering is nothing but an assembly of political hangers-on and rent-a-crowd politicians who mobilize only when there is “welfare”.

“We are putting this on the public record for the public to note and take cognizance of this dastardly act of impersonation and misrepresentation. The Labour Party will not permit political contractors to hijack our name for personal gain”.
