A sociopolitical group, South West Support Group has urged Nigerians to make informed choices at the ballot box, stressing the need to support leaders who prioritise citizens’ welfare, as no fewer than 800 residents benefited from a free medical outreach in Osun State.

SWSG made the call during a medical outreach, held at Iresi, Boluwaduro Local Government Area of Osun State.

The outreach, organised by South West Support Group in collaboration with the Victory Support Foundation, offered blood pressure and blood sugar checks, medical consultations, diagnosis, and distribution of prescribed medications. Corrective glasses were also provided for beneficiaries with vision challenges.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of VSF, Ambassador Lawal Olubunmi Olufunmilayo, popularly known as BUMAC, said the initiative was aimed at improving access to basic healthcare, particularly for underserved communities, while also encouraging civic responsibility among citizens.

“Our people deserve better access to healthcare and improved living conditions. It is important that citizens are deliberate in choosing leaders who have the capacity and commitment to deliver good governance,” she said.

BUMAC also used the opportunity to encourage residents to be deliberate in their civic responsibilities, stressing the need to support leadership that prioritises the welfare of the people.

“This outreach is not just about medical care; it is about showing our people that they deserve better. We urge everyone to vote wisely and support candidates, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji of APC, who have the capacity and track record to deliver good governance,” she said.

She urged beneficiaries to take their health seriously by adhering to medical advice and prescriptions given during the outreach, noting that early detection remains key to managing many health conditions.

The Chairman of Boluwaduro East LCDA, Engineer Samson Oluwole Awodiji, described the intervention as timely, noting that residents from surrounding communities including Igbajo, Otan Ayegbaju, Okerun, and Eripa turned out in large numbers.

“This is a critical intervention at the grassroots. The turnout reflects the urgent need for accessible healthcare services in our communities,” he said.

He called for sustained collaboration between government and private organisations to strengthen healthcare delivery at the local level.

Awodiji also urged residents to participate actively in the forthcoming governorship election, encouraging them to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, whom he described as experienced and capable of sustaining people-oriented initiatives.

Also speaking, the Oniresi of Iresi, Oba Dikirulahi Adeseun Ibiloye, commended the organisers, noting that many residents lack the financial means to access quality healthcare.

“Many of our people cannot afford drugs, and some have lived with health challenges like poor eyesight for years. This initiative has brought relief to them, and we are grateful,” the monarch said, offering prayers for the sponsors.

One of the beneficiaries, Ayanbode Sikiru, expressed appreciation after receiving treatment.

“I am grateful for this opportunity. I received proper medical attention and drugs that I could not have easily afforded,” he said.
