JUST IN: VP Shettima Arrives In Maiduguri For Inauguration Of Key Projects

Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, ahead of the inauguration of major road rehabilitation projects aimed at boosting connectivity, security, and economic recovery across the state.

The Vice President was received on arrival by Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum before proceeding on a condolence visit to Professor Shehu Liberty, Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences at the University of Maiduguri, following the death of his wife, Dr. Fatima Shehu Liberty.

During the visit, Shettima sympathised with the bereaved family and prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased, grant her Aljannatul Firdaus, and give the family the strength to bear the loss.

The Vice President is expected to officially flag off the rehabilitation of the Bama–Banki Road and the Dikwa–Gamboru Ngala Road, two critical transport corridors considered vital to improving mobility, enhancing security operations, facilitating trade, and accelerating post-insurgency recovery in Borno State.

The projects are part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s infrastructure renewal programme, which seeks to reconnect communities, expand economic opportunities, and support the restoration of livelihoods across Nigeria’s North-East.

The Bama, Banki, Dikwa, Gamboru Ngala, and Ngala axis remains strategically important for cross-border commerce, humanitarian access, and the region’s long-term stability.
