Horror In Maiduguri: Eight Arrested For Killing, Burying Newborn In Hospital
In a deeply disturbing turn of events, the Borno State Police Command has apprehended eight individuals in connection with the chilling killing and clandestine burial of a newborn baby within the premises of a private hospital in the Kwatam area along Baga Road, Maiduguri.
Spokesperson for the Command, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Nahun Daso, confirmed the shocking development during an exclusive interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday.Sports equipment
According to Daso, the gruesome murder of the baby came to light on April 18, 2025, around 1:00 p.m., after alarmed residents raised a distress call over suspicious activities within the hospital compound.
“Police operatives from Ite Division responded immediately, cordoned off the hospital, and arrested the suspects at the scene,” Daso said.
He added that forensic specialists were deployed to the site, and the baby’s body was exhumed for further examination.
“The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances behind this heinous act,” he stated.
Daso urged the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to aid police efforts in safeguarding communities.
