Femi Oyetola to Train Osun Youths in Aquaculture, Fish Farming
A youth-focused empowerment initiative led by Femi Oyetola is set to provide practical training in aquaculture and fish farming for young people in Osun State, as part of efforts to tackle unemployment and promote sustainable livelihoods.
The three-day intensive programme, scheduled to bring together selected participants from across Osun State, is designed to equip youths with both technical knowledge and hands-on experience in modern fish farming practices.
Participants will undergo comprehensive training sessions covering key areas such as aquaculture management, pond construction, fish breeding techniques, feed formulation, and agribusiness development. The initiative also aims to expose attendees to emerging opportunities within the rapidly growing aquaculture sector, positioning them to become self-reliant entrepreneurs.
Speaking on the significance of the programme, stakeholders emphasized the urgent need to engage young people in productive ventures, particularly in agriculture, which remains a vital driver of economic growth. They noted that empowering youths with practical, income-generating skills is essential for reducing poverty and enhancing food security.
The training is part of a broader strategy to encourage youth participation in agriculture as a viable and profitable career path, while also contributing to local economic development.
Community leaders, government representatives, and other key stakeholders are expected to attend the opening and closing ceremonies, underscoring the importance of the initiative in fostering grassroots development and creating sustainable economic opportunities across the region.
