ADC Relocates Abuja Convention Amid Venue Controversy
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced a new venue for its national convention scheduled to hold in Abuja on Tuesday.
The party disclosed in a statement on its official X handle on Monday that the event would now take place at the Rainbow Event Centre, located in Garki Area 8 of the Federal Capital Territory.
According to the ADC, the venue was selected for its central location and accessibility to delegates and stakeholders expected from across the country.
The development follows earlier uncertainty over securing a suitable venue for the convention, less than 24 hours to the event.
Kola Ologbondiyan, media aide to the party’s embattled National Chairman, Senator David Mark, had earlier raised concerns that the party had yet to obtain a venue.
He said the party applied to the office of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for permission to use Eagle Square but did not receive a response, despite acknowledgment of the request.
“Twenty-four hours to the ADC National Convention, the Nigerians-aligned political party is yet to be issued a venue,” he said.
However, Wike denied the allegations, insisting that no formal application had been submitted and that access to Eagle Square remains open to all groups that follow due process and pay the required fees.
