A mass burial was held on Tuesday for nine victims killed in a Sunday evening attack at a relaxation spot in the Doruwa Babuje community, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident, which occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, saw gunmen storm the local relaxation spot and open fire indiscriminately on people gathered there, leaving the community in deep shock and mourning.
Our correspondent gathered that the burial ceremony attracted a large gathering of grieving family members, community leaders, religious figures, and concerned residents who came to pay their last respects to the deceased.
Solemn prayers were offered for the repose of the victims’ souls, amid an atmosphere heavy with sorrow and calls for justice.
Community representatives strongly condemned the killings, describing them as a tragic and unacceptable loss of innocent lives.
Rwang Tengwong, a community leader associated with the Berom Youth Movement, who spoke with our correspondent, described the incident as devastating and urged security operatives to intensify efforts in tracking down the perpetrators.
