2025: Nigeria May Face Critical Crossroads, Islamic Cleric Predicts

As Muslims and Christians begin the sacred observances of Ramadan and Lent respectively, renowned Islamic cleric, Professor Sabit Ariyo Olagoke JP, has called for national unity, peace and responsible leadership, urging Nigerians to seize the moment for spiritual renewal and collective reflection.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Bode Akinbode, Professor Olagoke described the concurrence of this year’s Ramadan fast and the Christian Lenten season as a divine coincidence.

He encouraged adherents of both faiths to embrace the period as an opportunity for spiritual growth, sincere self-examination, and deeper devotion to Allah (God).

He appealed to Muslims and Christians to use the solemn season to pray fervently for an end to the insurgency and insecurity that have continued to trouble the nation.

“May Allah grant peace and stability to Nigeria, and may we work together to build a safer and more prosperous future for all,” he stated.

Professor Olagoke also offered prayers for the less privileged and vulnerable in society, asking God to ease their burdens and provide relief in these challenging times.

“I also pray that Allah brings relief to the downtrodden, the poor, and the vulnerable. May our fasting and prayers be a source of comfort and strength to those struggling to make ends meet,” he said.

He further sought divine guidance for the nation’s leaders and policymakers, urging them to prioritise the welfare of the people and to pursue measures that would promote economic stability and shared prosperity for all Nigerians.

“May Allah accept our prayers and fasting, and may we emerge from this holy season with renewed purpose and a strengthened commitment to serving humanity,” he added.
