Supporters of former Osun governorship aspirant and Accord Party chieftain, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, have reaffirmed their loyalty to the party and declared support for the re-election bid of Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

The group made its position known in a communiqué issued after a meeting held at Adeoti’s residence in Iwo, Osun State, on Tuesday, June 9.

The meeting, attended by loyalists from the 30 local government areas and the Area Office in the state, focused on recent political developments and the group’s direction ahead of the governorship poll.

In the communiqué signed by Comrade Abiodun Agboola on behalf of the group, the loyalists dismissed concerns over the recent defection of a prominent member to another political party, describing the move as a personal decision that does not affect the strength of the group.

According to the communiqué, the defection was carried out without consultation with members of the group and would not weaken its structure or influence within the Accord Party.

The group also reaffirmed its loyalty to Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, pledging continued support for his political leadership and efforts to ensure fairness in the distribution of elective positions and political appointments.

The loyalists further declared their commitment to the second-term ambition of Governor Adeleke, while passing a vote of confidence in his administration over what they described as developmental projects executed across the state.

“That we remain committed to the re-election of the people’s governor, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, for a second term in office,” part of the communiqué read.

The group also maintained that it remains an integral part of the Accord Party and would continue mobilising members and residents ahead of future elections.

Members were subsequently directed to intensify grassroots sensitisation and voter mobilisation activities in support of the party.
