Man Docked For Diverting N7.5m To Personal Use After Helping Victim To Sell Lexus Car

A 35-year-old man, Adegboyega Idowu has been dragged before an Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo for allegedly cheating on one Macarthy Gbenga by helping him to sale his Lexus EX 350 car and converted the proceed to his own use without the owner’s consent.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Anifowose Saheed told the court that Idowu commited the offence on December 1, 2025, at about 1:00 p.m., along Ring Road, Oke-Baale area, Osogbo.
Inspector Anifowose told the court that, Idowu was entrusted with a Lexus EX 350 car, valued at ₦7.5 million, property Gbenga, with the promise to assist him to sell the car and when he sold the said car, he allegedly converted the proceed to his own personal use.
He further stated that investigations revealed that after selling the car, the accused allegedly failed to remit the proceeds to the owner as agreed.
The offences, according to the Prosecutor are contrary to and punishable under Section 390(9) and 421 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
But, accused person, pleaded not guilty to the allegations slammed against him.
Defence Counsel, Barrister K.A Abidoye applied for the bail of the accused person in the most liberal term. Abidoye who assured the court that the suspect will not jump the bail, if granted said, he is still presumed innocent until contrary is proved by the court of law.
Abidoye said the accused is ready to face his trial, adding that the accused has relatives present in court and are willing to stand as his sureties.
In her ruling, the presiding Magistrate, Olatunji M.A granted the defendant bail in the sum of N5 million with two sureties.
The case was thereafter adjourned till March 2, 2026, for hearing.
