The two factions of the People Democratic Party,PDP had earlier closed ranks and formed an alliance with other opposition parties to ensure victory for the PDP and its candidate, Otunba Ademola Adeleke in the forthcoming July 8, Osun West Senatorial bye election.‎

It would be recalled that Osun West Senatorial seat became vacant at the National Assembly following the death of Senator Isiaka Adeleke who was until his death representing the district.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC had announced July 8, 2017 for the conduct of the election.‎‎

The party flayed at what it described as non-event the reports that the antagonistic factions of PDP are ganging up in a coalition of convenience to support Otunba Ademola Adeleke in the July 8 Osun West Senatorial district bye-election.‎

The party made the statement through its Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Mr Kunle Oyatomi.

“PDP remains the same old merchants  of violence and bloodletting and nothing new will emerge from this.

“We know the PDP well enough now to beat them silly in any election in Osun because the dynamic prevailent in the Osun West Senatorial district for the upcoming election is patently unfavourable for the PDP.

“Neither of the factions of the party, has special advantage to upstage the APC and both coming together doesn’t improve their chances either.

“So the optics of announcing a union antagonistic factions of the PDP for this election is a laughable strategy which has no electoral value because nobody is fooled by it”, the APC said.

‎The party however expressed confidence at wining the election, saying its candidate’s antecedent in the district is unassailable by the PDP and it’s candidate.
