A tragic incident occurred in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, on Thursday, where a 39-year-old pregnant woman named Esther Enemo was brutally murdered. Reports say her brother-in-law, Sylvester Enemo, is the main suspect and may have killed her for ritual purposes.

Esther was home alone on Wednesday night at her residence in Temidire Zone 4, Egbejila area.

A neighbor said that her husband saw a masked man leaving the compound late at night. When confronted, the man removed his mask and identified himself as Esther’s brother-in-law.

After the man left, the neighbor’s husband became suspicious because there was no response when he called out to Esther. Later, blood was seen in the compound, prompting residents to raise an alarm.

Esther’s husband, Ekene Enemo, a trader in agricultural chemicals, was not at home at the time.

According to the police, parts of Esther’s body were found in the bush behind her house, and other parts were discovered in a sack under a nearby bridge. The police arrested Sylvester Enemo, 29, who had been seen leaving the house shortly before the body was discovered.

The body has been taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital for autopsy. Police say a full investigation is ongoing, and they are committed to ensuring justice is served.

Kwara State Police Commissioner, Ojo Adekimi, urged the public to stay calm and avoid spreading rumors. He also asked residents to cooperate with the police by sharing any useful information.
