Man United Players to Wear Black Armbands In Tribute To Dead Calabar Fans
English Premier League giants, Manchester United have announced the club’s players will wear black armbands in Sunday’s home league game against Swansea City in honour of football fans who recently lost their lives in Calabar, Nigeria.
This was announced in United’s verified twitter handle on Friday.
Up to 30 football fans in Calabar were electrocuted while watching United’s UEFA Europa League quarter-final second leg tie at Old Trafford Thursday last week.
United went on to win the game 2-1 and progressed into the semi-finals 3-2 on aggregate.
United wrote on their handle “The Manchester United FC players will wear black armbands on Sunday in memory of the seven fans who lost their lives recently in Calabar, Nigeria.”
The red devils will face Spanish club Celta Vigo in the semi-final of the Europa League next Thursday.
Yesterday, a 10-man United side held city rivals Manchester City to a 0-0 draw at the Etihad in the race for a too four finish.
