Mrs Adeleke Asks Youths To Shun Social Vices, Explore ICT Positively

Youths have been advised to explore the positive side of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) and shun acts that could bring shame and disgrace to the nation.

The wife of Osun state Governor, Mrs Adeleke gave the advice at the year 2022 Children’s end of the year party, held at the Government House , Osogbo on Thursday

Represented by Chief ( Mrs) Ayobola Awolowo, the wife of the Governor asked youths in the state and the country as a whole to shun cybercrime and channel their energies into worthwhile ventures.

She lamented that many youths spent their time in unprofitable ventures, saying such was not good for the future of the country.

Mrs Adeleke said the future belonged to the younger generation, adding that they must identify their talents, develop and use them for the benefits of the country.

She said: “The Children End of the Year Party is in consonance with my idea of socializing with children as means of inculcating acceptable social norms and culture into them, especially in this age of 21st Century Industrial Revolution shaped by emerging technologies with automation, being key.

“The attributing factors of this revolution calls for concern: the wrong application of the website for fraud and other illicit acts are of serious concern to the whole World, this had frustrated our social standard and bring about the unusual money making norms call Yahoo, yahoo.

” It is time we all rise to this challenge and herald its elimination from our social life. We can always explore forum like this to inculcate discipline and morals into these children; Children, you are future leaders and you must learn the culture that will show case you as a good citizen of this State from your tender age to comport yourself decently with self-respect and dignity anywhere and in any activity you are involved in.

She however assured the residents of Osun state of dividends of democracy saying present administration will do everything within its reach to make life better for the people of the state

“This administration has made an inclusive measure that will uplift the standard of living of all and sundry. Mr. Governor and other top government functionaries will leave you with long lasting pleasant memories. All these provision are a reflection of Government’s love for every category/class of people in the society inclusive of women and children.

“I must not forget to mention that we all have duty of supporting this new Government to take the State to a more enviable height, and to become a World class in is social life and physical development.”

Meanwhile, in his welcome address, the Coordinating Director Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Mr Babajide Falade described the event as epoch making uniquely designed to annually celebrate our Children in the State.

The prevalence of our many life threatening activities are testimonies which sometimes are occasioned by our culture and tradition, for example, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and other attending social ills, Programmes like this are avenue to remind us of the need to secure a laudable future for our children.
