The Accord Party has produced Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa as its consensus candidate for the Osun Central Senatorial District ahead of the 2026 general elections with a promise to deliver quality representation and grassroots-driven development if elected.

Olaoluwa emerged during the party’s primary election held under the supervision of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security operatives, as delegates unanimously adopted him through a consensus arrangement.

At the same exercise, Hon. Adekunle Maruf clinched the party’s ticket for the Osogbo, Olorunda and Irepodun/Orolu Federal Constituency seat.

The senatorial primary took place amid chants and applause from party supporters after a motion endorsing Olaoluwa’s candidature was moved and seconded by Hon. Sikiru Bajepade before delegates ratified the decision.

Declaring the result, the Accord Party Electoral Returning Officer from the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, Ambassador Omorogbe Joseph, described the exercise as peaceful and in line with democratic principles.

He subsequently announced Olaoluwa as the duly elected consensus candidate of the party for Osun Central Senatorial District.

Speaking after his emergence, Olaoluwa expressed appreciation to party leaders, delegates and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, assuring residents of inclusive representation and people-oriented leadership.

The Accord Party candidate said his political experience, particularly his tenure as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, had equipped him with the capacity to attract opportunities and facilitate development across communities within the senatorial district.

According to him, “I am ready to mobilize support and provide quality representation that will positively impact the lives of our people and open more opportunities for communities across Osun Central Senatorial District.”

Also reacting to the exercise, a party chieftain in Osogbo, Dr. Muyiwa Oladimeji, commended members for conducting what he termed a peaceful and rancour-free primary election.

Oladimeji noted that the emergence of the candidates signaled a new phase for the party in Osun State ahead of the 2026 elections, while also emphasizing the need for continuity in governance through the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

On his part, Hon. Adekunle Maruf appreciated the leadership of the Accord Party for granting him another opportunity to fly the party’s flag in the House of Representatives race.

He pledged to sustain effective representation and remain committed to programmes that would improve the welfare of constituents across Osogbo Federal Constituency.

The high point of the exercise was the presentation of the Accord Party flags to Olaoluwa and Maruf amid jubilation by party members and supporters.
