Atiku: I Have Evidence Tinubu Is 90 Years Old
Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is 90 years old, saying he has evidence to support the allegation.
Atiku made the claim on Friday during an interview with the BBC, where he also explained his decision to remain in the race for the presidency despite his repeated attempts in previous elections.
According to the former Vice President, his opposition to military rule, previous disqualifications and constitutional right to contest have strengthened his resolve to continue seeking the opportunity to lead Nigeria.
He also cited his experience, competence, patriotism and physical fitness as reasons he believes he remains qualified to serve as President.
Defending his decision to contest again, Atiku said the age he attributed to Tinubu was one of the reasons he believed Nigerians should consider his candidacy.
“You have a President who is 90 years old now and sick, and I am healthy and strong. So why won’t I make myself available to serve my country?” Atiku said.
He further alleged that he possessed documentary evidence to support his claim about the President’s age and indicated that he would present it in court if necessary.
“You went and voted for someone who is 90 years old. I have evidence that President Tinubu is 90 years old and I will present it in court,” he said.
Tinubu has publicly stated that he was born on March 29, 1952, which would make him 74 years old in 2026.
Atiku also criticised the Federal Government’s handling of insecurity, blaming what he described as failures in the defence and policing sectors for the worsening security situation in the country.
He promised that, if elected President, his administration would take decisive measures to tackle insecurity and restore confidence in Nigeria’s security architecture.
