EID-EL-KABIR: Osun NUJ Felicitates Muslims, Calls For Sacrifice, Responsible Leadership
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, has felicitated Muslims in the State on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
This is according to a statement by the Chairman, Comrade Adeyemi Aboderin, and Secretary, Comrade Olalekan Akindoju which described Eid-el-Kabir as a season of deep reflection, sacrifice, obedience, love, compassion and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
The Osun NUJ urged Muslims to continue to uphold the virtues of tolerance, patience, peaceful coexistence and generosity which the festival represents, especially at a period when the nation is facing socio-economic and security challenges.
On the security situation in the country, the NUJ State Council expresses concern over persistent cases of insecurity threatening peace and national stability.
The Council commends security agencies for their sacrifices and efforts in protecting lives and property, while urging them to sustain intelligence-driven operations and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
As Osun State gradually moves towards the governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026, the Council appeals to political parties, candidates, supporters and other stakeholders to conduct themselves peacefully and responsibly throughout the electoral process.
The Council emphasised that elections should not be seen as a do-or-die but as a democratic process through which the people freely choose their leaders.
