Nigerians Should Expect A Promising Outcome From The Reps Adhoc Power Probe. -Jackson Ojo
A leading security expert in Nigeria and global affairs analyst, Jackson Lekan Ojo has revealed that with the present Ad-hoc committee on Power Sector Reform and Expenditures set up by the House of Representatives, under the chairmanship of Hon Arch. Ibrahim Almustapha Aliyu, Nigerians would soon start enjoying stable power supply.
Ojo, in a chat with newsmen on Sunday declared that Nigerians have lost total confidence in any probe committee set up by the House of Representatives due to incessant failure of such committees to produce any positive results since over 17 years ago.
He, however, explained that the recent probe committee headed by Aliyu presents new hope of revolutionising the power sector for significant improvement and regular supply .
According to him, the committee has been saddled with a new mandate to conduct comprehensive forensic audit of the Nigerian power sector and to investigate funds, policies, and expenditures dating from 2007 to 2024.
Ojo further said that unlike past committees of the House of Representatives that have messed up the process of probe and greatly disappointed Nigerians, Arch. Aliyu by his antecedents would prove his mettle with unprecedented positive result after the completion of his assignment.
He, therefore, urged Nigerians to have confidence in the committee and support it’s activities for significant improvement in power generation and distribution across the country.
”Sincerely speaking, Nigerians have lost confidence totally in any probe committee set up by the House of Representatives in the last 17 years due to their abysmal performance which continued to give Nigeria darkness.
“Meanwhile, despite the failure and disappointment of the past, I think the 10th National Assembly is getting it right by the appointment of Hon Arch. Ibrahim Almustapha Aliyu, a well disciplined, incorruptible and thorough professional as the chairman of the probe committee aiming at improving gas supply to boost energy generation.
“The committee will painstakingly probe every intervention in the power sector from 2007 to 2014 and work assiduously to change the unpleasant narrative that have characterized the sector since over 17 years.
“For those of us who are interested in the probe committee, despite the huge disappointment such committees have generated in the past, carefully investigated the chairman of the committee and authoritatively confirmed his capacity and his strength of character as a capable hand to revolutionise the power sector .
“I want to assure Nigerians that there is going to be significant improvement in the power generation and distribution across Nigeria after the completion of the assignment by this present probe committee headed by Hon. Aliyu”, Ojo averred.
