City Boy Movement Launches Nationwide Campaign To Enrol Five Million Voters Ahead Of 2027 Polls
The City Boy Movement has unveiled plans to register five million voters across Nigeria before November as part of a nationwide mobilisation campaign aimed at increasing youth participation in the 2027 general election and supporting the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The initiative was announced on Tuesday during the movement’s 2026 National Retreat, themed “Youth, Unity and Action,” held at the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Director-General for Policy, Research and Strategy of the movement, Bobo Akpapunam, disclosed that the organisation had already built a membership database of over 500,000 people and had commenced a fresh nationwide validation and recruitment exercise across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
According to him, the movement is targeting the recruitment of about 80,000 members in each state, with the goal of registering five million members before November 1.
“We’re aiming at 80,000 in all 36 states, with the target of getting five million before the 1st of November. After that, the next step is to ensure that all of them obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs),” Akpapunam said.
He explained that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to transform the City Boy Movement into a data-driven political organisation capable of sustaining grassroots mobilisation beyond the 2027 general election.
Akpapunam added that members would be profiled based on their occupations and skills to facilitate targeted empowerment programmes and strengthen community engagement across the country.
Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital and New Media, who also serves as the movement’s Deputy Director-General for Media, Communications and Public Affairs, O’Tega Ogra, said the organisation had grown beyond its initial role as a campaign platform.
According to Ogra, the City Boy Movement has evolved into a nationwide youth advocacy organisation with structures established in wards, polling units and states across the federation.
“This movement has grown from just being a vehicle for electing President Bola Tinubu to becoming a voice of youth advocacy across the country. We have matured, and now we have a structure across every ward and polling unit, every state, and across the country,” he said.
