Osun Muslim Community Commends Adeleke’s Pro-People Policies, Infrastructure Drive
By Ayobami Agboola, Osogbo
The Osun State Muslim Community (OSMC) has commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for what it described as his people-oriented policies and commitment to the welfare of Muslims and residents of the state.
The commendation was given by the President of the OSMC, Alhaji Mustafa Olawuyi, during the governor’s visit to the community’s secretariat in Osogbo.
Olawuyi praised Governor Adeleke’s intervention in the Ikirun Obaship dispute, noting that the Executive Order issued by the governor helped prevent a breakdown of law and order and averted possible bloodshed in the town.
He also lauded the administration’s infrastructure drive, particularly the ongoing road construction and rehabilitation projects across the state, describing them as impactful.
The OSMC president further commended the governor for approving the construction of a mosque within the Osun State Government House in Osogbo, describing the decision as a significant milestone for the Muslim community.
He equally applauded the Osun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board for what he described as the smooth coordination of this year’s Hajj exercise, attributing the success to the support of the state government.
Speaking during the visit, Governor Adeleke said his administration had recorded unprecedented achievements in advancing the interests of the Muslim community, maintaining that his government’s interventions in the Islamic sector surpass those of previous administrations.
According to him, the construction of the state’s Hajj Camp is nearing completion, while Osun has become the first state in the South-West to formalise the issuance of Islamic marriage certificates.
“I am happy to report that my administration is almost completing the Hajj Camp,” the governor said.
“Just recently, Osun became the first state in the South-West to formalise the issuance of Islamic marriage certificates. It is now operational, and I have directed that the process for issuing the certificates should henceforth be domiciled with the Osun State Muslim Community as the umbrella body for Muslims in the state.”
Adeleke also stated that Muslims have been adequately represented in his administration through appointments into key government positions, stressing that his government has ensured fairness and inclusiveness.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Affairs, Alhaji Muniru Raji, described Adeleke’s performance in office as remarkable.
He said the governor had implemented several policies and programmes that directly benefited the Muslim community and expressed confidence that the administration would consolidate on its achievements if re-elected.
