Defamation Row: K-RAD’s Lawyers Issue 24-Hour Ultimatum To Asejere Youths

…Demand Retraction, Public Apology Over Alleged Defamatory Claims

A legal battle may be looming between Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Kunle Rasheed Adegoke, popularly known as K-RAD, and the Asejere Youths Vanguard following a demand by the lawyer’s legal team for the immediate withdrawal of a publication concerning their client.

In a letter dated September 5, 2026, the legal team, led by MURITALA O. ABDUL-RASHEED, SAN, Ph.D, gave the Asejere Youths Vanguard a 24-hour ultimatum to retract the publication and issue an unreserved apology to K-RAD.

The lawyers alleged that the publication contained statements capable of damaging the reputation and professional standing of their client, particularly claims concerning alleged “manufactured images,” “AI-generated visuals,” exaggerated publicity and unverified claims.

They also took exception to the publication’s questioning of the authenticity of a presidential birthday message issued in honour of K-RAD.

According to the lawyers, the publication allegedly created the impression that their client fabricated or knowingly circulated a false presidential communication.

They described the allegations as false, malicious, reckless and defamatory, insisting that their client’s reputation as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria must be protected.

The legal team demanded that the publication be withdrawn in its entirety and that an apology be published in two national newspapers as well as on all social media platforms where the disputed material was circulated.

They further demanded that the Asejere Youths Vanguard and other persons allegedly involved refrain from further publishing or repeating the statements.

The lawyers warned that failure to comply with the demands within 24 hours would result in the commencement of appropriate legal proceedings against the Asejere Youths Vanguard, its spokesperson, Mr. Elénìyàn Amos Oyeyemi, and other persons allegedly responsible for the publication and its republication.

The letter also raised concerns over what the lawyers described as increasing personal attacks against K-RAD by individuals allegedly linked to the political camp of Mr. Gani Olaoluwa.

They argued that political differences should not be allowed to degenerate into attacks on individuals’ professional integrity and reputation.

The dispute adds another layer to the ongoing political exchanges in Osun State, with the latest development now taking a legal dimension.
