Independence Day: FG Declares Wednesday Public Holiday

The federal government has declared Wednesday, October 1, as a public holiday to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary.

‎The announcement was made by Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, on behalf of the federal government on Monday.
‎
‎In a statement signed by Magdalene Ajani, permanent secretary in the ministry, Tunji-Ojo congratulated Nigerians on the “historic milestone”.
‎
‎He urged citizens to continue upholding patriotism, unity, and resilience, which he said have kept the nation together since its independence in 1960.
‎
‎The minister also called on Nigerians to keep faith in President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, which he said is focused on national rebirth, economic growth, and shared prosperity.
‎
‎Tunji-Ojo expressed optimism that with collective effort, Nigeria would continue to advance in peace, progress, and development.
‎
‎He wished the citizens a happy and memorable Independence Day celebration.
