2027: I’ll Deliver Osun Votes To Tinubu, Adeleke Assures

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has assured President Bola Tinubu of his commitment to mobilising the state’s support for him in the 2027 presidential election.

Adeleke gave the assurance on Sunday when the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Osogbo.

The governor said he was not making an empty promise when he pledged to deliver Osun votes to Tinubu, stressing that he believed political commitments should be honoured.

“I don’t make empty promises. When I say we will deliver Osun State votes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I mean it wholeheartedly,” Adeleke said.

He explained that his position was influenced by the values instilled in him and his siblings by their late father, a diplomat and labour union politician, who taught them the importance of keeping their word.

Adeleke also recalled his role in the political negotiations that preceded the emergence of Senator Godswill Akpabio as Senate President and Tajudeen Abbas as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

According to him, he assured President Tinubu at the time that members of the National Assembly from Osun State would support the President’s preferred candidates, despite indications that some politicians in his camp were backing former Senate President aspirant, Senator Abdulaziz Yari.

He said he personally reached out to the lawmakers and persuaded them to support the President’s choices, adding that all three senators and members of the House of Representatives from Osun eventually backed Akpabio and Abbas.

“I don’t make empty promises; I don’t play games. That’s not me, because I have a fear of God,” the governor added.

Adeleke subsequently called on politicians and other stakeholders in Osun State to put aside their political differences and work together for the development of the state and the success of initiatives that would benefit its people.

He urged political actors to look beyond party affiliations and support programmes capable of advancing the interests of Osun residents.
