Gunmen Kill Doctor On Duty In UBTH Ward, As Truck Crushes 2 Vigilantes To Death

The management of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), has confirmed the killing a doctor simply identified as Dr. Alex, by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.
It was gathered that the gunmen stormed the Hospital last Friday, shot the diseased dead inside the Physiotherapy Department, while patients and other health workers scampered for safety.
Some health workers protested the gruesome killing of their colleague, as seen in a viral video, brandishing placards to register their displeasure over the incident.
The image maker of the Hospital, Joshua Uwaila, who confirmed the incident, said that the Management of the Hospital has reported the matter to the security agencies and are awaiting the outcome of their findings.
“A physiotherapist with the University of Benin Teaching Hospital was shot dead on Friday,” he said.
Meanwhile, no fewer than two persons were on Tuesday crushed to death by an articulated truck on the busy Ugbowo-Lagos Road, by the University of Benin (UNIBEN) gate.
Identities of the victims who are said to be members of a vigilante group, are yet to be ascertained.
Eyewitnesses account had it that the accident occurred about 12 noon, when the victims who were riding on a motorbike were hit by a truck, crushing their heads crushed beyond recognition.
It was gathered that their remains have been taken to an undisclosed mortuary.
An eyewitness who asked not to be named, said: “The two bodies have been deposited in the mortuary. The accident occurred right in front of the UNIBEN maingate just a few minutes past 12 noon.
“The two men were vigilantes riding on motorbike on the Ugbowo-Lagos highway when the accident occurred.”
