One Dead, Another Injured In Osun Auto Crash

A fatal road traffic accident occurred in the Onirin area of Ile-Ife on Wednesday morning, claiming one life and leaving another person injured.
The incident involved a single commercial truck, which reportedly suffered a brake failure.
According to a First Information Report from the office of the Osun Sector Commander, Corps Commander T.A. Sokunbi, the accident took place at approximately 8:45 am on the Gbongan-Ife route.
Sokunbi revealed that emergency responders arrived at the scene within ten minutes of receiving the report.
The vehicle involved was identified as a white Foltom truck with registration number T-7852LA, and the driver, Akeem Are Aderinsoye, was found without a valid driving licence at the time of the crash.
“Preliminary investigations suggest that the truck’s brake system failed, leading to the single-vehicle accident,” said Corps Commander Sokunbi.
“Sadly, one male occupant was killed, while another sustained injuries.”
Emergency services swiftly transported the injured victim to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex, Ile-Ife, for treatment, and the body of the deceased was taken to the hospital mortuary.
The Sector Commander reiterated the importance of vehicle maintenance and adherence to road safety regulations to prevent similar occurrences.
“We urge all motorists to ensure their vehicles are in good working condition before setting out on any journey,” Sokunbi stated.
He also warned drivers against excessive speeding, adding that it remains a leading cause of road traffic accidents across the country.
He noted that investigations into the exact circumstances of the crash are ongoing, with further updates to be provided as more information becomes available.
