The wife of the governor of Osun state ,Mrs Kafayat Oyetola has charged women to wake up to their responsibilities by ensuring good moral upbringing of their children and wards.
Mrs Oyetola said women apart from being special creatures by God,they are critical to the sustainability of a good and better world.
She made these known in far away Kigali, Ruwanda during the All Africa Women Conference (AWC).
The Osun First lady who led a delegation of Osun to the Kigali- Rwanda conference restated her commitment to women development just as she promised to do everything within her reach to advance the good course of Women, children and society at large.
She said how to enhance women quality of lives especially at the rural communities will continue to be on the front burner.
Women, if properly engaged, according to Mrs Oyetola, have the capacity to enhance the standard of living of people in Africa and the larger world.
Mrs Oyetola sadly noted that Africa as a continent has come to be identified with poverty and other manifestations of social problems such as hunger ,food insecurity , substandard housing , homelessness , poor access to health care and unsafe neighbourhoods leading to further intensification of poverty .
The All Women Conference which had other women from different countries of the continent of Africa, pointed out that findings by the United Nations and other development organisations have revealed an astronomical rise in poverty among women in Africa.
Mrs Oyetola, however, challenged people in positions of authority to champion significant programmes that will advance the best of life for women.
Before the large assembly of women from different parts of the world in Kigali ,Ruwanda, the Osun first lady also told the women what her NGO, ileriOluwa Development Initiatives had done and still doing in form of different intervention programmes aimed specifically at empowering them .
To the delight and appreciation of the African women in attendance ,not less than 1000 rural community women in Osun according to Mrs Oyetola have been dutifully empowered in Agricultural schemes like vegetable and food crops farming.
At the end of Osun first lady’s presentation ,the entire women attending the All African women conference in Kigali, Ruwanda ,applauded the love and concern of Mrs Oyetolas magnanimity to women in Osun especially in advancing the course of their growth and development through the various empowerment programmes by her NGO, IleriOluwa Development Initiatives.
