Youth Development Key To Nation-building-Adeyemi
A member of Osun State House of Assembly, Mr Adewunmi Adeyemi says, a consciously conceived, purposefully driven youth development programme is imperative for the growth of any Society.
He made the remark at the plenary of the House of Assembly during a debate on the “State of Osun Youth Development Commission Establishment Bill 2020.”
Mr Adewunmi argued that virtually all innovations experienced in humanity’s progression from analogue to digital had been pivoted by young people who swiftly responded to the need of their time.
The Legislator who represents Obokun State constituency further observed that the ground breaking phenomenon of technology in the digital age, spreading across all sectors were also consequence of youthful ingenuity.
For Hon Adewunmi, ” The political leadership of most countries of the world is equally changing from gerontocrats to people with the youthful age, as unarguably, young people occupies the most conscious and mobile demography in any population “.
The honourable member, who is the Vice chairman of the Assembly committee on Youth, Sport and Special Needs explained that the “importance of such legislation to provide the legal framework of a functional youth policy can not be overemphasized”.
For a Nigeria that would guarantee a sustainable globally relevant development, government must take decisive step to drive the process; a lacuna such a bill intend to cure.
