Adeleke Presents N705.8bn 2026 Budget To Osun Assembly

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday presented a ₦705.794 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill to the Osun State House of Assembly, christened the “Budget of Economic Transformation.”

Addressing lawmakers at the Assembly complex in Osogbo, Adeleke said the budget was more than a financial plan, describing it as a visionary roadmap and a blueprint for sustainable growth aimed at improving the lives of every citizen in the state.

He explained that the 2026 Budget Proposal was prepared based on the projections of the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), as required by the Osun State Fiscal Responsibility Law 2012.

The governor disclosed that the recurrent revenue for 2026 includes ₦221.68 billion from the Federation Account, ₦199.57 billion from independent revenue, and ₦268.35 billion from other receipts. Recurrent expenditure, he said, stands at ₦317.41 billion, representing 45 percent of the budget, while capital expenditure is ₦388.38 billion, or 55 percent of the total budget.

Adeleke said his administration had made significant progress in implementing the 2025 budget and pledged to complete ongoing projects while embarking on new ones deemed critically essential.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the regular payment of workers’ salaries and pensions.

Earlier in his welcome address, Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, commended the governor for his unwavering commitment to integrity, public service, and citizen-centred governance, noting that previous budgets—particularly those of 2024 and 2025—produced measurable outcomes in infrastructure, education, healthcare, social inclusion, and workers’ welfare.

Egbedun assured that the Assembly would give the 2026 budget a thorough review to ensure that allocations reflect public interest and sustainable development across all sectors.
