Ondo 2020 Budget: Education Gets Highest Fund, As Govt Promises To Complete Ongoing Projects

Ondo state government has promised that all ongoing projects in the state would be completed before the expiration of the Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s adminstration next year.

The state commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. Emmanuel Igbasan disclosed this on Wednesday while analyzing the 2020 budget.

He said the budget was designed to leap the economy of the state in all sectors and improve on the success of the present administration.

Education, therefore, gets higher percentage with N35.931billion under the sub-sector breakdown of the total N187.859billion 2020 budget, tagged ‘Budget of Growth’, followed by Infrastructural development, N32.907billion.

The Commissioner informed that the policy direction of the budget was informed by the out of the government interaction with the residents of the state adding that the budget cut across all areas of the state economy.

He said the policy bedrock of the budget rests on human capital development, economic revolution, infrastructural expansion, institutional reform and social welfare enhancement.

Other policy bedrock of the budget according to Igbasan are culture and tourism development, environmental sustainability and human welfare.

The Commissioner noted that if the policy bedrocks are pursued with on common focus the state government will build a new society, crate new jobs and a new era of prosperity for all people of the state.

Giving a breakdown of a budget, the Commissioner disclosed that a total of N187.859billion was budgeted to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

In all, N80.470billion was budgeted for capital project, N82.700billion for recurrent expenditure, N10.508billion for debt repayment and N14.180billion for statutory transfer.

He submitted that the budget will be fully implemented adding that in the 2020 fiscal year will serve as a compass to the future that the state seeks.
