The chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the state of Osun, Prince Gboyega Famodun has urged security agents to remain on high alert to prevent alleged  possible Peoples Democratic Party PDP,  violence in the run-up to the Osun West Senatorial bye-election scheduled for July 8, 2017.
Prince Famodun alleged that owing to the notorious antecedent of PDP  leaders in the state for violence during elections,  it becomes incumbent on the security services to act proactively to avoid unnecessary loss of life.
Besides, the APC chieftain called on citizens of the senatorial district to be vigilant ‘so that PDP planned violence could be stopped before it breaks’.
The chairman made these remarks during an address to party leaders from the District in his office.
According to him, ‘the tragedy of this PDP leadership tendency towards violence is that their victims are the same people they pretend to want to serve!!.
Prince Famodun therefore called on all stakeholders to be alert and vigilant to prevent PDP leaders ‘who have made it their approach to employ violence to achieve political goals’.
The chairman also recalled what he described as the ‘bloodcurdling attacks on hapless people of the state during PDP rule of over seven years in the state that was brought to a halt by Aregbesola’s government in 2010.
‘Since then we have had peace in the state’, Prince Famodun said, adding that, ‘these tormentors of the people that have been caged should not be allowed a space in the state public life again’.
Prince Famodun called  for intensified commitment of members to ensure that  PDP ‘does not relaunch itself on the political scene in Osun through the West Senatorial district.
He therefore called on the people of the West Senatorial district to ‘vote massively for Senatorial Hussein on July 8, so that peace may continue to reign in the state’, the chairman said.
