Osun Community Threatens To Dethrone Monarch For Vacating Palace
–I Vacated The Palace For Fear Of Not Being Kidnapped -Monarch
The Edemosi community in Ila local Government of Osun State has vowed to sack their traditional Ruler, Oba Samuel Adeniyi Olaniyan, the Edigbo of Edemosi if he refuses to relocate back to his place where he was crown.
In a statement issued at the weekend by the community leaders jointly signed by the Youth leader, Sunday Awosina, Dapo Awosina Secretary and woman leader Fotodun Dupeola respectively gave the Monarch of the town 7 days ultimatum to come back to his palace or face the wrath of the community.
They accused the king for ruling them from another community in Ila -Arangun which they said was against the custom and tradition of the town.
They said since the day Oba Edemosi was crown king, he had not for a day sleep in his palace rather he is taking refuge in Ila community using insecurity as excuse while he has abandoned his Royal home.
The 7 days ultimatum according to the statement is for the traditional Ruler to either return to his palace or be prevented from being the Monarch of the town.
The letter to this effect has been forwarded to the office of the Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, the assistant inspector General of Police in charge of zone 11,the commissioner of police, DSS and the palace Chiefs.
The letters reads: ” this is to inform your honorable office that the youths and women of Edemosi kingdom has written a letter of notification to the above named King to demand for the followings before the next 7days
” Oba Samuel Olaniyan was installed as Edemosi king since four years ago but neither passed a night nor sleep at Edemosi Community for a day. We are giving him 7days to relocate to Edemosi and stop ruling us from from Ila-orangun.
” Withdrawal of the suspension letter submitted to High Chief, Abiodun Awojide (Obaala of Edemosi) and chief Aniyikaye Awowale (Akogun of Ede)
” Letter of apology to all Edemosi women for the insult and embarrassment meted on them on the March 12, 2022 during the community meeting in the palace.
Reacting, the monarch enumerated achievements recorded since he became king among were renovation of Secondary school in the community.
He said “the community had been left behind for donkey years, I met nothing when I became the king. I used N14.5 million to build the palace.”
“I build apartment for teachers using my personal fund. I employed teachers in the school . I facilitated good road from Igbajo to our community, I also ensure that there is electricity. There is no adequate security in the palace, no perimeter fence and I can not live my security to chances, I may be kidnapped.
“Some of the chiefs are going about the community selling peoples lands and some will even sell tress in the forest for wood traders , so the erring chief were suspended
“I built a school and employed teachers which I pay in the last one and half year now. I facilitated road that is near completion.
I bought a 500kv transformer.
If you sleep in the town, Fulani are in that town. I have a personal house there. This is a town that is in darkness. I bought 26 poles to light up the town.
“My predecessor suspended the person. They collect money from people and spend. They collect money on my behalf. In fact, I suppose to lock them up.” he stated.
