1st Olona Cup: Royal Father Endorses Grassroots Soccer Competition

The Olona of Ada Land, HRM (Dr.) Oba Oyetunde Olumiyiwa Ojo Ogunbodun I, has endorsed the maiden edition of grassroots football competition being sponsored by Adebayo Olagunju Foundations.

While receiving the team of sponsor of the maiden edition of Olona’s Cup during a courtesy call in his palace last Wednesday, the monarch expressed his happiness and assured the sponsor of his royal support towards the success of the football tournament in Osun state.

Oba Olumiyiwa used the occasion to call on other indigenes of Ada home and abroad to emulate Hon. Adebayo Olagunju, who is one of illustrious son of Ada, but based in United Kingdom and always think towards progress of Ada-land at all times.

The royal father also called on all the Obas, chiefs, political office holders, sons and daughters of Ada land, party leaders, neighbor and the community at large to come and grace the final event of the Olona’s cup which has been scheduled to hold on the 31st of December 2020 at Commercial Secondary School, Ada in Boripe local government area, Osun State.

The Local Organisation Committee team used the opportunity of their visit to present a branded jersey of the tournament to the royal father and updated him about the activities line-up for the final match.

The LOC Chairman, Coach Ojesanya T.O appreciated the royal father for the warm reception accorded them and he assured that arrangements for the maiden edition of the Olona’s cup has reached an advanced stage, with kick-off on the 26th of December 2020, and the official draws has been scheduled to hold on the 15th of December 2020.

Eight teams from Boripe, Ifelodun, and Odo-Otin councils have already registered and confirmed their readiness to be part of this year’s edition of the championship.

The team leader, Director of the Foundation, Mr Sola Ajala, accompanied by the Local Organizing Committee Chairman, Coach Ojesanya T.O and other members of the foundations formed entourage of the Adebayo Olagunju foundation paying courtesy to the palace of Olona of Ada palace.
