Father, Son Arraigned In Court For Allegedly Beating Female Tax Collectors In Osun
The Osun State Police Command has arraigned 58-year-old trader, Louis Ezenwa and his 25-year-old son, Paul , before an Osogbo Magistrate’s Court for allegedly beating two female tax officials.
The accused persons were arraigned on Tuesday before the presiding magistrate, Mrs Adebola Ajanaku, on two counts of conspiracy and assault.
Police Prosecutor, Mr Jacob Akintunde, told the court that the two defendants committed the offence on October 5, 2020, at about 11:30am at the Alekunwodo area of Osogbo.
Akintunde, who is an Inspector of Police told the court that the father and his son conspired and assaulted Bosede Fawole and Temitope Olaniyi, who are officials of the Osun State Internal Revenue Service while they were carrying out their lawful duty.
He noted that the offence committed by the duo was contrary to and punishable under Section 516 and 351 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol I Laws of Osun State Nigeria 2002.
When their pleas were taken, the two defendants pleaded not guilty to the two counts.
Defence Counsel , Mr O. Alade, made an oral application for their bail in the most liberal term.
The magistrate while delivering her ruling on the application
granted them bail with the sum of N200,000 and one surety each.
He adjourned the case to 27 October 2020 for hearing.
